Yellow Cake Cinnamon Rolls

My first semester of college, I was looking for a cinnamon roll recipe and I happened to stumble upon this one. I especially like this particular recipe because it uses yellow cake mix which makes it extra delicious:) It is from food.com.

6 cups of Flour
1 package Yellow Cake Mix
2 (1/4 packages) Fast Rise Yeast
2 1/2 cups Warm Water
1/4 cup Melted Butter
1/2 cup Sugar
1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Combine 4 cups of flour, cake mix, yeast, and water in a bowl and mix until smooth
Add remaining flour to form a soft dough
Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead dough for about five minutes (until smooth and elastic)
Place dough in a greased bowl turning once to grease top
Let rise for 45 minutes
After 45 minutes, divide the dough in half
Cover each half for 10 min
Turn onto lightly floured surface
Roll each portion into a 14x10 rectangle (obviously, do them one at a time)
Brush each rectangle with butter
Sprinkle with 3/4 cup of brown sugar per roll, cinnamon and sugar (I usually combine the two instead of sprinkling one at a time)
Roll up rectangle and cut each one into 12 pieces; you can use some string or a piece of floss to cut, its a lot easier and a knife tends to flatten the rolls a bit.
Put each roll in a 9x13 pan
Cover them with a handle towel and let them rise until they have doubled. This takes about 20 minutes, but it may take longer.
Bake the rolls at 400° for 10-15 minutes until golden brown
Let cool for 20 minutes

Now for the frosting:

6 Tbsp Butter
3 cups Powdered Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
2-3 Tbsp Milk

Mix all of those together and drizzle over cinnamon rolls and enjoy:) Oh! and you can add as much or as little milk as you'd like. Depends on how thick you like the frosting.

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!

So, if any of you are like me, you have been looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe, and none seem to make the cute. Well I believe I have found it! Thanks to the lovely Alex Plitt and her wonderful family, I have been given seriously the best chocolate chip cookie recipe! Here it is! P.S. it important that you follow the recipe EXACTLY how its written.

2 cubes Butter
3/4 cup Sugar
1 cup Brown Sugar

Mix

2 Eggs
1 Tbsp Vanilla

Mix for 3 to 4 minutes (this is important!)

3 cups Flour
3/4 tsp Salt
3/4 tsp Baking Soda

Mix

2-3 cups Chocolate Chips (I usually just use a whole bag)

Typically to make them shaped like the cookies you buy from the store, I roll each piece of dough into a ball.

Add to a cookie sheet, bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes

Cool, enjoy!

Oh, Henry Bars

This is awesome recipe I learned from my Aunt Allie and my grandma. Its one of my favorites! Sometimes, I call them Oh, Ashley bars:)

1 Cup Karo Syrup
1 Cup Sugar

Stir together and bring (barely) to a boil, turn off stove, and stir for 50 seconds

Add:
1 Cup Peanut Butter

Add 6 Cups of Rice Crispy Cereal to a separate bowl

Add Peanut Butter, Karo Syrup, and Sugar to the Rice Crispy bowl and mix.

Put mixture in a 9x13 pan (hint: it helps to press it in with fingers)

Melt a bowl of chocolate and butterscotch chips in the microwave for about a minute (half a bag at a time)

Spread, cool, and enj0y!

First Post!

Thanks for checking out my blog! My name is Ashley Hansen and baking is one my favorite things to do! Here's some background on the blog's title (just in case you're wondering). Bread is probably my most favorite food in the entire world! I love it! When I was younger we used to celebrate thanksgiving at my grandma's house in Billings, Montana. As a kid, my cousins and I used to "call" who we were going to sit by. One time, while staking our claims on spots at the kids table, I really wanted to sit by my good friend and loved one, Rolls. So I shouted "I call sitting by the rolls!" The rest is history. Now every thanksgiving, my family kindly reminds allows me to sit by my true love: Rolls. Anyways, each time I try a recipe, I will post it! I am always open to suggestions, so suggest away! Also, I'm allergic to tree nuts, so I won't be posting recipes with walnuts, pecans, etc...However, I can eat peanuts and pistachios so I will include those in some recipes. Anyways, the first recipe will be up soon!
